This was almost the only thing I worked on from August 2023 to May 2024. There was a pre-existing Revit model, but I made extensive changes to it. Of note, I modeled the slopes of the three parking-garage floors, to make sure that they would fit and meet applicable codes.
I helped with multiple rounds of design for the first-floor and sixth-floor amenities spaces, and the core. I learned a lot about accessibility codes because I designed the bathrooms for the public spaces. Emergency exiting from the sixth floor was a challenge because of the large amounts of assembly space. So I learned about the required number of stairs, stair widths, etc.
(Incidentally, modeling stairs and stair railings is one of Revit’s most infamous challenges. The building stair shafts changed materials and sizes as they went up, making them unusually difficult. I modeled the stairs and railings multiple times as the design changed.)
This was a large project that demanded a lot of collaboration. I worked with the principal in charge, two different project managers, the lead interior designer, an assistant interior designer, and an architect who was laying out the hotel rooms. I also attended meetings with the owners and consultants.
I’m sharing this 2023 presentation here because the project was paused in May 2024. When it began work again, I was on another project.
